Desiderium is a beautiful and haunting developmental work for young vibraphone players that is perfect for any recital and/or solo & ensemble. This piece exposes performers to the idea of musicality through melody and time while developing a sense of delicate touch when approaching the instrument.

Program Notes
Desiderium is a longing for something or someone lost. I wrote this piece as a means for understanding and coping with this loss.

This is an excellent choice for someone who is looking for their first vibraphone solo or an experienced player looking for something simple that sounds really nice. This piece utilizes the idea of playing a bunch of different notes and muting certain pitches changes the tonality. The dissonance that is created in the cluster gives the emotion of longing or sadness that you would feel missing someone and the resolve is coming to terms with what has happened. Overall wonderful piece of music! Tanner Underwood on Oct 18th 2022
