Burned was originally commissioned by Robert Faub under the title “Burn” for performance at the 2016 North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference at Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX), where it received its premiere. I’ve been neck deep in this piece for a couple weeks now and I love it. Beautifully and creatively composed and very fun to play. Feels good to play in the hands and every note makes sense. The tracks are also high quality and easy to play with, the inclusion of the full example recording is also nice to have on hand. I do wish that more practice materials were offered. Whether that be the full track at various tempos or sections/movements available to be played on their own, I just wish I could hear how the parts fit together slowed down or be able to clean up licks alongside the track. But again, overall a fantastic piece and I can’t wait to add the piece to my repertoire. Jacob S. on Sep 16th 2021
