The Taíno were an Arawak people, indigenous to the Caribbean. Music played a significant role in their culture from recounting history, to celebrations, to spiritual guidance. It has been said that music played such a large role in everyday life that one of the most valuable gifts a Taíno could offer was a song. This intermediate 2-mallet solo for 4-octave marimba and track offers that gift!

I hope this piece offers that gift. Accessible to the intermediate player, this two-mallet solo with track begins with a beautiful introduction leading to a driving rhythmic ensemble of world percussion to complement the solo marimba.
If performing the solo without the track, begin at measure 5 and do not take the repeat. Cut measures 79-83 and measures 147-148.
A special thank you to Aidan Swift (aidanswift.com) for producing and mixing the track.
