Voyager is an exciting work for two players on one 4.6-octave marimba. This work is rhythmically driven and is scored in a unique modality that should create an enjoyable experience for the audience while still presenting a challenge to the performers.

Program Notes
Voyager was commissioned by and written for Caleb Callender and Kevin Hendricks. This piece is written for two marimbas with player II scored for a 4.6-octave (low E). If a 4.6-octave marimba is not available, octave displacement is acceptable. The performers are to mute certain bars to change the texture of the piece and add new color to the sonority. Voyager is constructed around the notes E, F, G-sharp, B, C and D-sharp. My main goal with Voyager was to create an approachable mallet duet that is both rhythmically driven, melodically interesting, and entertaining. – S.W.
