Savage Ritual is a musical depiction of the anxiety and drama that accompanied the sacrificial rites as practiced by the Aztecs in 15th century Mexico. A free improvisational section is surrounded by faster, more rhythmically active sections leading up to the actual sacrifice. Wonderful programmatic piece for your next percussion ensemble concert.
