About the Collection
Birthstones is a series of works meant to increase the repertoire for chamber duets featuring one percussionist and one other musician. The twelve birthstones are represented by individual works in the series. An example of this can be seen with the first work in the series being representative of and inspired by "Garnet," the January birthstone. Some of the overall characteristics of these works are “angular” rhythms and adventurous tonalities.
