Program Notes
Several years ago, while in college at Georgia Southern University, I composed a small brass quintet version of a fast, adrenaline packed fanfare meant for a composition recital. Upon writing this piece, it was evident that the music begged for a larger setting with a larger ensemble.
Wildfire is designed with an 'A' melody and a 'B' melody. These melodies start small, but spread more and more around the band until it resembles a wildfire that simply cannot be put out. Percussion plays a very big role in the piece to keep the energy of the piece and really melds the entire composition together.
