Program Notes
Valse Éxcentrique is composed as a part of series of pieces written by three composers for Hiromi Kamiya. The composers were required to describe Hiromi's portrait by music.
Goto writes: It is difficult to describe a person by just one word. In fact, Hiromi is very serious but sometimes so joyful, prudent but bold, and works extremely hard but enjoys music and life. I focused on the multiplicities of her personality. As a result, opposite musical characteristics such as soft and loud, comfort and angular, static and active, hesitant and steadfast are contrastingly employed in this piece.
