Program Notes
Commissioned by Timothy McCallister and The University of Arizona Wind Ensemble, Gregg Hanson, conductor. The three movements of Towers of Power are written for solo soprano, alto, and tenor saxophone, respectively. Each movement is titled after a tune from the funk-horn band, Tower of Power; hence, the title of the work.
