Thoughts... was the result of a happy accident after forgetting to turn off the delay pedal that had been used on a guitar earlier in the day. The digital delay turns this very accessible 4-mallet marimba solo into something much more layered & intricate.

Program Notes
Thoughts... was sort of a happy accident. When recording the basic idea in the studio for future use, I'd forgotten to turn off the delay pedal that had been used on a guitar earlier in the day. I was delighted to find that the various motives worked incredibly well with themselves. The delay should repeat each beat for one full measure (4x). The speed of the delay should permit the performer to play dotted eighth notes and have the delay pedal “fill in” the rest of the notes comfortably without getting too muddy.
