Spirit & Hope

Spirit & Hope is a contemporary musical treatment of two African-American melodies. After a spirited introduction, we hear a lilting dance based on "Little David Play on Your Harp." This is followed by a tender setting of "There is a Balm in Giliad." As the work unfolds, we hear echoes of the first melody superimposed upon the second. Elements of the introduction return and lead us to an ending of grand completion.
