Written in 1993, this piece has long been a staple in the solo marimba repertoire. Based in A minor, of thoughts and thinking gives the performer plenty of freedom for interpretation. It begins and ends with full, lush chorale sections. The middle section is reminiscent of Spanish guitar writing and builds in dynamic and tempo to a powerful climax. Appropriate for any level of four-mallet playing from undergraduate to professional.

of thoughts and thinking is a great medium solo for four mallets. Has several contrasting sections that involve some different focuses and keeps the performer, as well as the audience guessing. If you're a good four mallet player and you want to advance your performing skills, this piece is a must have! Kyle Lee Dortch on Jun 12th 2017
