Program Notes
Cruising Altitude is a Latin rock chart using modern harmonic progressions in the style of Pat Metheny. Thoughtful doublings and ranges make it both aurally and technically accessible to players of all levels. A solo section includes chord symbols for Flute, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Trumpet, and Trombone, with optional written solos provided for Tenor Sax and Trumpet; the chord progression in this section is a perfect setting for improvisation using the basic blues scale. A variety of doubled parts are included for extremely flexible instrumentation.
