Program Notes
Electra Glide is a straight eighth-note rock chart featuring the rhythm section. The driving beat features a riff-like bass line underpinned by keys and guitar. Open fifth interval power chords are used in the horns to simulate heavy rhythm guitar. Saxes play a pentatonic lead line over the power chords. Written solos are featured in the guitar and keyboard parts or may be improvised using the E5 power chord. The drummer will enjoy playing the fills provided or may improvise. This arrangement could be an attention-grabbing opener or exciting send-off at concert’s end.
