Program Notes
You can’t get any closer than the Zip Line! From the top of the mountain, imagine flying down the wire at record speeds while viewing the most picturesque and beautiful scenes nature has to offer. During your adventure, you will fly over a beautiful ravine, waterall, and a lush green forest. Feel the wind on your face and zip through the trees just like a bird would do.
In addition to the great adventure awaiting the performers, there are several great teaching opportunities for young band. These include the connection between articulations and note lengths. In addition, trills in the upper woodwinds are introduced. Melody is used in upper and lower voices to provide teaching balance and blend. Driving percussion keeps those students interested, keeps the music moving forward, and ties the piece together for the adventure of a life-time. Enjoy taking a ride on the Zip Line! This work was commissioned by the Consortium for the Development of Quality Beginning Band Literature.
