Program Notes
Woodwork is playable on two marimbas—one 4.3-octave and one 5.0-octave. Marimbas 1 and 2 and Marimbas 3 and 4 can each share an instrument. Monotone mallets that are consistently articulate at all dynamic levels are preferred. Especially for Marimbas 2 and 4, select mallets that are soft and heavy enough to create a full and resonant sound in the lower range of the instrument. The eighth note remains constant throughout the piece.
