With Ceaseless Voice draws upon two hymns: "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence" and "What Wondrous Love is This." The piece begins with veiled, chant-like voices, wandering in darkness until the Light appears (John 1:4-5). When "Wondrous Love" joins, the sonority warms with conviction and hope… this “Light of the world” (John 8:12) has become “the Life of the soul” (Gal 2:20). Finally, the united hymns overflow with endless praise: “as with ceaseless voice they cry ‘Alleluia’ – and through eternity I’ll sing on.”
