Program Notes
The Methodist Ladies College in Melbourne has a long history of fine music making. This work, written to commemorate the opening of a new era in the school's musical endeavours uses the first three notes of "The Vision Splendid", a song written by Miss Ruth Flockart MBE, Head of Music from 1932 to 1959. The words to the song, by Barbara Heath, speak of the vision held by the founders of the school. A vision that would last throughout the years and inspire all of the school community. Their foresight is a cornerstone of the new music school placed there by the dedication of the present staff.
