Unjustified (Perc Ens 7)

Unjustified was commissioned by Andrew Blezinger and the East View High School Percussion Ensemble. This percussion septet was inspired by the turmoil experienced in the year 2020 in three chapters: Unjustifyingly, Terrifyingly, and Violently.

Instrumentation
Percussion 1: Crotales (2 octaves), Bongos, Bass Bow
Percussion 2: Kick Drum (laid flat), Crotales (2 octaves), Hi-Hat, Bass Bow
Percussion 3: 4 Graduated Metals (pipes, bells, etc.), Doumbek (mounted), 5 Woodblocks
Percussion 4: Suspended Cymbal, Concert Snare Drum, Splash Cymbal, Large Cowbell, Small Triangle (or resonant metal), Bass Bow
Percussion 5: 5 Graduated Concert TOms (4 rubber mallets), Mounted Glockenspiel bars (suspended on board – high C, D, E, F)
Percussion 6: Concert Bass Drum, Medium Triangle, Cajón
Percussion 7: Large Triangle, Bell Tree (on side), 2 Congas, Tam-Tam, Resonant Pipe, Superball Mallet
