    Triple Moon is a colorful duet for bassoon & marimba. It is a musical representation of the the Triple Goddess symbol, which aligns with the three phases of the moon – waxing crescent, full moon, and waning crescent and is dedicated to the three generations of women closest to the composer, including his daughter, wife, and mother-in-law.

    The Maiden
    Represented by the new waxing moon, the maiden embodies purity, youth, creation, pleasure, naivety, and new beginnings. The maiden invites you to explore your spirituality, creativity, and desires.

    The Mother
    Represented by the full moon, the mother embodies love, fertility, nourishment, responsibility, patience, power, and self-care. The mother invites you to master giving and receiving love.

    The Crone
    Represented by the fading waning moon, the crone embodies fulfillment, endings, wisdom, death, and culmination. The crone invites you to accept that without death there is no birth.

    TRIPLE MOON was commissioned by the Across the Grain Duo (Susan Nelson and Jeffrey Barudin) and was funded in part by the MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music at the College of Musical Arts of Bowling Green State University.
