Program Notes
Tangling Shadows was commissioned by oboist Amy Anderson and percussionist Lisa Rogers, both professors in the School of Music at Texas Tech University. The piece was premiered on November 8, 2006 at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Austin, Texas. The 8-minute work is based upon the Pablo Neruda poem, “Thinking, Tangling Shadows.” Fragments of the text may be found throughout the score for reference.
