As the name implies, Strata is written in layers. One layer is presented and this another layer or layers appear over it. It was originally written for a very large group, so the keyboard parts may be doubled as needed. The ending should be very delicate and a real contrast to the rest of the piece. It was written for the 9th Annual Northeast Kansas Total Percussion Camp at Washburn University, to be performed as the Mass Percussion Extravaganza featuring all the campers.
