Carnival of the Animals is one of the great French composer's best-known works is transcribed for symphonic band and narrator. An excellent example of programmatic music from the Romantic era, this is a demanding but playable setting of six of the movements from the original. The appeal of the piece is enhanced by the elegant and witty poetry of Ogden Nash and will make a fine addition to any concert.
