Three unique movements depicting musical interpretations of Samurai who might be found guarding an Ancient Castle on the hill high above Himeji Japan. The movements may be played separately and feature very accessible limited instrumentation that can be set up in small spaces and transition very easily. They will challenge players to varieties of phrasing, tempo, and mallet selection.

Program Notes
Himeji castle in Japan is an imposingly beautiful fortress sitting high on a hill overlooking the village. Now a national monument, it guarded the city silently for centuries. This composition is a “musical portrayal” of the castle and three Samurai who’s spirits might still be faithfully guarding the walls and the gate.
