Program Notes
Parody is a work that dates back to memories of being a trumpet player. As undergraduates, we all learn the essential orchestral repertoire such as Stravinsky’s “Ballerina Dance” from Petrouchka as well as major concertos such as the one by Tomasi. These works still haunt my memory as being only playable by the truly gifted. Parody is the combination of the concerto with the “Ballerina Dance;” light-hearted, but challenging.
