Majestic! For concert band with optional treble choir, My Father's World opens with a noble introduction leading to a tender exposition of the hymn, then develops through a series of melodic variations, always superimposed on the original hymn. The powerful climax combines a variational alleluia plus the previous variations and hymn and concludes with a touching coda and fades to a gentle silence.

Program Notes
My Father’s World was commissioned by The Tara Winds, David Gregory, director, and the Spivey Hall Children’s Choir, Martha Shaw, artistic director. The work is based on the children’s hymn This is My Father’s World. It opens with a noble introduction leading to a tender exposition of the hymn. The work develops through a series of melodic variations, always superimposed on the original hymn. The powerful climax combines a variational alleluia plus the previous variations and hymn. The work concludes with a touching coda and fades to a gentle silence.
