Life’s Essence, written for Dr. Greg Byrne, is an innovative piece that explores emotions as we travel through the journey of life. In life we have our many ups and downs, but in the end we are promised only two things that make us all the same – life and death. This piece explores the beauty as well as the hardships of our humanity. The ebb and flow of sounds takes you through the many contrasting emotions of life; the feelings of happiness and sadness, joy and fear, uncertainty, anger, and relief. This piece is all about the emotional journey of life and circumstances of life that are usually not identified or discussed out loud by individuals. If only we could express all of our feelings with music so that they could be heard, understood, and comforted by each other without any words.
