Let’s Dance was written with the ballet and can-can dances in mind, combining simple and elegant themes into an energetic work for band. The piece makes heavy use of the can-can to build energy and excitement as the music develops!

Program Notes
The art forms of dance and music have been connected for centuries. One of the most exciting dances (and the music to accompany it) is the can-can. The can-can often appeared as a dance within the ballet. It's known for its high-energy (and high kicks!) as well as twirling dresses and acrobatics. Let's Dance is written with both the ballet and the can-can in mind.

Simple and elegant themes are interspersed with more rousing music. At the end there is no doubt that the can-can is in full control as the music moves into a dramatic accelerando and crescendo for the final statement.

Let's Dance is dedicated to my granddaughter Hannah, who loves both music and dance.
