All about a kookaburra in "an old gum tree", the piece is written as a "patrol" beginning with a distant "pizzicato style" pulse building to a rousing middle section which fades to a distant drum beat again with the kookaburra having the last laugh.

Program Notes
Nearly every Australian primary school student would have sung the tune upon which this arrangement is based. All about a kookaburra in "an old gum tree", the piece is written as a "patrol" beginning with a distant "pizzicato style" pulse building to a rousing middle section which fades to a distant drum beat again with the kookaburra having the last laugh. The original melody "Kookaburra Sits in in the Old Gum Tree" was written by Marion Sinclair for the World Guiding Jamboree in Melbourne in 1934.
