Without a rhythm section and ensemble to play with, it is easy for a drummer to make errors without knowing it. The Jazz Drummer's Reading Workbook provides written sequential exercises that gradually add new figures and longer summary etudes, all with live, downloadable play-along accompaniments. The goal is to give drummers a chance to play musical examples similar to what they will encounter in the "real world."

    1. Excellent educational book!

A very clear and concise material to learn to play jazz on the drums on Mar 18th 2025

    2. Great Educational Resource

A fabulous drummer’s resource for developing a clear, and concise Jazz Drummer’s Vocabulary. Reading rhythms , and interpreting the “feel” with Live Music is a Great Way To Gain Experience With Sitting In With A Group! The demonstration of the various exercises and playing techniques is Fantastic! I highly recommend this book for students, teachers, and professionals “who play with their hands “. ??

    3. read!

I've been playing drum set for 55 years and, unfortunately, I wasn't trained in notation. After becoming a big band fan, I sought books to push my reading up a notch or two. This book has
been one of those. Book includes mp3s by the scads, as well as drum charts and etudes and studies broken down into doable bits. If you would like to get your reading to a better place, get this book. It's fantastic.
