Fantasy for Various & Sundries is a bittersweet romp for flexible wind band filled with regular and irregular rhythmic utterances. Thematic melodic boldness contrasts with warm lyricism moving the work to a charming surprise ending.

ABOUT THE SERIES
The SpectraFlex Series for adaptable wind band offers flexibility with pieces across all grade levels, featuring traditional high-to-low scoring with 5 or 6 parts and optional percussion. Each part is transposed and playable by a multitude of wind or keyboard percussion instruments while maintaining the spectrum of sound we have grown to love about the wind band.
This arrived just a couple days ago. Like so many groups, our community concert band has not been all together for rehearsals since last March. Wow. But...now, in October, we have been able to organize a combination of half the band in a theatre and the other half on Zoom. It worked out very well that our live instrumentation is excellent and our Zoomers, who have elected to stay at home for various valid reasons, are happy to feel like they are in the group. Because of this situation, I decided to use quite easy music at the start of these sessions, and gradually go to something more challenging. This piece, "Fantasy for Various & Sundries" by Luigi Zaninelli, is one which I have been studying, and am looking forward to conducting for the first time at a Live-and-Zoom rehearsal in a couple weeks. In my head it sounds wonderful. I am confident our group is going to find it challenging and great fun. R. Duane Hendricks on Oct 18th 2020
