Ecology of the Soul is written in four musical vignettes, with each reflecting an element of our secret inner world: the awakening of our imagination and creativity, our sense of mischief and adventure, the warmth associated with kindness and opportunity, and feeling emotionally safe enough to share our full selves with others to grow, connect and belong. The end of the work concludes with a hymn-like verse sung by the ensemble, the lyrics being “To honour the Earth and Learn from the Moon, open your winter sun, be open to love.” Let us hope that by allowing ourselves to be vulnerable, we can share the ecology of our soul with those around us so that, as a society, we may continue to evolve with love and compassion—and, in doing so, honour the wisdom of the Earth.
