Program Notes
Early Morning Nostalgia was written while reflecting on simpler times. The piece is meant to evoke the imagery of an old man sitting on a park bench on a Saturday morning and reflecting on the life he lived. Thoughts of former friendships that have come and gone, experiences that turned out to be once in a lifetime, and travels that seem as though they were an eternity ago. All these things compile into a short reflection of life and a hint of sadness that the times have come and gone. There are short motifs that occur throughout the piece that are references to other aspects of my musical history and are memories from my life I reflect upon often. This piece reminds me of simpler, but not necessarily happier, times.
