Duo Dichotomy is written for 4.3-octave marimba with optional notes of a 5-octave marimba. Listen for the two "dichotomies" of the piece - the two central tonalities (B-flat minor and F-sharp minor) and the contrast between five-note and four-note rhythms. These two dichotomies both merge at the end of the work with a 5-over-4 rhythm and a compromise between the two keys: G-flat major.
