Carols of Christmas is an exciting medley of favorite traditional Christmas carols. Taylor has always loved Christmas music both for the rich melodies and the power of the words. This musical setting was written for the Thomas Worthington High School Wind Ensemble, Eric Doolittle, director.
Carols of Christmas is divided into several sections. The opening section is based a lively blending of Carol of the Bells, I Wonder as I Wander and What Child is This. The next section of the piece begins with a setting of The First Noel. Using lush harmonic movement the piece builds to a vibrant statement of Away in a Manger. Carol of the Bells makes a return in a moving, cinematic style. The carols Oh Come, All Ye Faithful and Hark the Herald Angels Sing are used to build this piece to a majestic close.
