Program Notes
Breathe is one of the earliest works in the repertoire of Daniel McCarthy. It was extracted from his Sonata for Alto Saxophone, Piano, and Tape. The sonata was discarded by McCarthy because he felt the electronic element was dated. The first movement, for soprano saxophone and piano, stands very well on its own. Recorded by Paul Bro and Richard Shirey on TrueMedia JazzWorks, McCarthy:ElectroAcoustic.
