Program Notes
Wheels That Spin is an intermediate chart for jazz ensemble written primarily in the rock style. In the middle section, swing is also introduced to add contrast to the music. While the melodies are original to this piece, it is also a tribute to the jazz-rock group Blood, Sweat & Tears.

Solos for tenor sax, trumpet, and trombone may be improvised or played as written. There is an optional percussion part. Please use this piece to introduce your students to the great jazz-rock tradition of the 1960s and 1970s.
