Three Changes is organized into three movements: …of time, …of mind, and …of place. The first movement features much unison playing and dialogue between the violin and vibraphone. The second movement explores many of the timbral possibilities of the violin and the remainder of percussion instruments in a free, special setting. In the final movement, the percussionist returns to the vibraphone and uses two rubber mallets in one hand and 2 yarn mallets in the other, creating new sounds.
