Soran Bushi is a traditional Japanese fishing song originally used to keep the fishermen in time together as they send the boats out to sea, haul the nets, fold the sails and load the catch. With the lyrics coming from an old fishermen’s dialect from the coasts of Hokkaido in Japan, ‘bushi’ means folk song and ‘hai hai’ means yes yes while the word ‘soran’ is used to mark time.
