Republica embraces musical ideas found in some of the more serious folk songs and popular songs of Singapore that celebrate nationhood and a sense of community. The composer has attempted to capture the spirit and celebration of nationhood that is evident in Singapore and this work is a musical reflection of his links with colleagues and friends in that country
