Take your percussionists on an adventure to the mysterious and uncharted reaches of the galaxy.

Outer Limits challenges the young percussionists to create and display a spectrum of unique and otherworldly timbres. The audio track vividly portrays the vast and ominous depths of deep space while providing a steady beat for easy play-along.

Composed for the developing multi-percussionist, this work challenges each performer to expand their technical repertoire and explore new sound textures from common and some not-so-common percussion instruments. Each performance of Outer Limits will be unique to the ensemble performing it.

Outer Limits was commissioned by the Campbell County Middle School Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Stephen Dietsch, for their performance at the 2022 Kentucky Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.
