Program Notes
On the Greenway was composed for the Greensboro Concert Band, Mark Norman, Director and the Greensboro Music Center, Jennifer Hance, Director, as part of the celebration of Greensboro, North Carolina’s Bicentennial. It was premiered by the Greensboro Concert Band on October 18, 2008 at the Carolina Theater with the composer conducting.
On the Greenway was inspired by two other Bicentennial projects, the Bicentennial Greenway which forms a loop of walking, running and biking trails around the downtown area of the city, and the Bicentennial Carousel.
