Na Sombra Fresca (Jazz Ens Gr. 4)

Na Sombra Fresca is a medium-tempo pop bossa chart for full big band instrumentation in the 1960s style of Sergio Mendes and Johnny Mandel. The light and airy Latin feel of the chart gives the sense of finding playful respite and relief from the sun on a hot day “in the cool shade” (na sombra fresca in Portuguese). A lengthy open solo section provides improvisation opportunities for three instruments.
