Myth of the Golden Camel, an original composition in the key of G minor, is a musical journey across the vast Arabian desert landscape between ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. Lower strings introduce the foreboding and mysterious main theme while upper strings offer an accented and energetic background, before offering a new theme of their own. An exciting ostinato, reminiscent of a ritual dance, is presented by the basses and cellos while violins present a frenetic background during the viola melody. Soon, the entire orchestra changes tempo and style, and the second violins take the lead in a slower, softer, chromatic-filled middle section, until the frenzied climax in which all themes are combined throughout the orchestra, ultimately culminating in an epic finale. Featuring double stops, pizzicato, and extensions throughout, this challenging selection is sure to be a favorite for performers and audiences alike!
