Low Tide is a low key but high energy piece with something for everyone to love. With figures mixing straight and swung styles, it gives players the experience of conveying similar material in new and effective ways. This chart can be used as a great bass feature, beginning with an open cadenza, having complicated but compelling bass lines, and taking solos in the solo section.

Program Notes
Low Tide is a low key but high energy piece with something for everyone to love. The piece starts with an open bass cadenza that will set up the rhythmic motif that will continue throughout the chart. Low Tide follows an AABA form where the first and second “A’’ are played in a straight style, and the “B” and final “A” are swung. Directly following the solo section is a soft shout, with energy continuing to build until the main melody returns. The chart then ends how it started, dropping out voices until only the rhythm section playing, and then finally, the bass.
