Jumpin' & Jivin' (Jazz Band Gr. 2)

Jumpin’ & Jivin’ is an exciting composition inspired by the legendary Count Basie orchestra and their stomping grounds, Kansas City. Home to many of the great jazz artists, Kansas City was where the jump style of music began, matching horns with a heavy four feel in the rhythm section. This piece tries to capture that feeling while incorporating catchy riffs and moments for improvisation that can be shared across the band.
