As a child of immigrants, this piece resonated with me in a personal way. All of the stories that Jodie provides (both in the score and on her website) helps propel the music. The music is both thought provoking and emotional, and really connects the players with how most countries “started”.
Musically speaking - the piece offers both technical & lyrical needs of intermediate/advanced students. There are a lot of opportunities to stretch their musical minds! Mandart Chan on Mar 5th 2020
