Program Notes
Inner Groove was commissioned by my good friends Allen Campoy and Jack Emery at the start of 2021. We had all previously met during our undergraduate work at the TCU School of Music and we were familiar with each other's musical skills. The moment Allen and Jack brought up the idea for this project, I was beyond excited for the challenge. They wanted a piece for Tenor Saxophone and Percussion that was "groovy, Latin, and fun." Going off of this request, I composed Inner Groove to fulfill all three of their requirements.
