Program Notes
Galactic Mission was commissioned by the Coastal Carolina University Bands for use at their annual Honor Band and Scholarship Festival in December of 2013. Inspired by the future of science and space travel, this piece takes the performer and audience on an incredible journey through our Milky Way galaxy. As we continue into the future, it is unclear how far humans will progress in space exploration. This piece gives hope that we will flourish and many future missions will be accomplished. From the fast paced journey of the spaceship to the wonder and awe of stars and nebulae, vivid images can be imagined from the fascinating melodies used within.
