The vibrancy and energy of the Italian musical spirit are on display in this setting of “Funiculi Funicula”, “Tourna Sorrento”, and “La Tarantella”. The warmth and romantic expressiveness of “Tourna Sorrento” provides the ideal contrast with the two outer sections which are cast in a frenzied 6/8 requiring ample technique and energy. The complexity of textures and color combinations makes this work ideal for a powerful closing selection.
